Ockham’s Razor - Exhibit B

Terrorism

Exhibit B:

The Palestinians, and their quest for statehood.

The problem here is that they don’t simply seek statehood. They seek the destruction of Israel. How else do you explain the kidnapping of an Israeli soldier this week?

They are currently trying to convince the world they deserve their own homeland, while taking a page right out of al-Qaeda’s playbook and tunneling like the rats they are under an Israeli checkpoint to kidnap a soldier and make demands. While they are under pressure from the entire world to recognize the State of Israel, and make nice, they show their true colors.

This was totally unprovoked, and was a fledgeling “government” engaging in kidnapping and extortion.

Like most Muslim nations hostile towards the US, they claim victimhood and western bias, but don’t accept one iota of responsibility for doing anything to foster those biases.

Now, when Israel responds, they demand the release of prisoners and an end to Israeli military action that is a direct result of their kidnapping of a soldier and extortion.

Then they accuse Israel of igniting a war over (once again) their kidnapping of an Israeli soldier. As if that weren’t enough, they went before the UN to try and get them to issue a resolution condemning Israel. And if that still weren’t enough, they accused Israel of having some sort of premeditated plan to invade them.

In regards to the alleged premeditated plan: There are only 2 possibilities. He’s lying, or he’s telling the truth.

If he’s lying, he’s at best, trying to manipulate international opinion and falsely accusing Israel of trying to destroy them. It wouldn’t be the first time. Remember the empty claims of atrocities at the Jenin refugee camp a few years ago? They went on and on for days, and after the smoke cleared, it became evident that there were no atrocities.

For the sake of argument, let’s say he’s telling the truth. Then, we can infer that they had a pretty good idea they would be attacked if they didn’t stop their own attacks. So why did they tunnel in to seize a hostage then, you ask? Because they want to provoke Israel. And poke them in the eye. Like the little punk that knows he can’t beat you in a fair fight, so he has to resort to dirty tricks, instead of standing toe-to-toe.

Kidnappings are, for the Palestinians, a way of life. A way to settle scores. They kidnap a foreigner or the aide of a mistrusted riva, and then demand negotiations to obtain a happy ending.

I want to believe those people can live alongside Israel in peace, but they continue to show otherwise. The Palestinian people bear the brunt of the responsibility. You reap what you sow. They swatted at a gnat by electing murderers to power to counter corruption. And those in power are now drunk on it, and out of control.

After a bloodbath lasting this many years, the simplest explanation:

They don’t want peace.
