I have often made the case that liberal Baby-Boomer parents are more concerned with instant gratification than long-term consequences. More about “If it feels good, do it” than “patience is a virtue”. Let’s take a look at but one more example of this phenomenon.
When it comes to child-rearing, it appears that many Baby-Boomer parents are doing a huge disservice to society, while also causing irreparable harm to their children by keeping them in a perpetual state of dependency, even well into adulthood. There is a disturbing new trend in this country of parents becoming deeply involved in decisions that should be made solely by their adult children. These parents are referred to as “helicopter parents” because they constantly hover over their grown children, whether they are young adults in college or recent graduates with degrees in hand, setting out for their first big job interview. Hokie - “a word that people used to express feeling, approval, excitement, surprise” - Johann Norstedt - Retired VA Tech English Professor
Once again, a suicidal maniac hell-bent on exacting as much revenge as possible has struck one of the nation’s schools, this time a world-class university. But as information about the shootings, suspect and victims arrived at news desks in drips and drabs, the over-the-top coverage of the incident by the mainstream media wasn’t very helpful. In fact, the sensationalism with which NBC, Fox News and others covered this nightmare did nothing except feed disinformation and rampant speculation.
On the April 16th morning broadcast of Fox News Live, within hours of the conclusion of the massacre, Fox contributor and former D.C. Homicide Detective Rod Wheeler was asked about the possibility that an M-16 may have been this shooter’s weapon of choice. It is unclear -and may never be known- whether a witness reported an M-16, whether a witness assumed that an M-16 was involved due to the volume of fire or exactly where Fox obtained this information.

The self-proclaimed Most Powerful Woman in America, The Imperial Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is a clear and present danger to this country. Let’s begin just prior to when Pelosi took the reigns, just before the drubbing of the GOP. Back in November 2006, just prior to the mid-term election that swept her into power and playing to her home crowd in an SFGate article, Pelosi questioned whether the Iraq Study Group could come up with any proposal that would be different than what Bush was suggesting. One of the Study Group’s primary recommendations was to make diplomatic overtures to Iran and Syria. Now here she is only a few months later, hypocritically snubbing the President for not following the ISG’s counsel and usurping the role of the Secretary of State, while taking credit for implementing recommendations in the report she openly criticized before it was even published.

It has long been alleged by conservatives that there is a liberal bias to the media. It has also been alleged by liberals -although with much less to support the allegations- that there is a conservative bias to the media. In an effort to determine in which direction the scales of bias tilt, let’s examine some of the documentary evidence in support of the argument of liberal bias. Below are just a few of the more recent, notable examples.

It can easily be argued that much like an automobile that begins to depreciate the moment it has been driven off the lot, the debate that is the bread-and-butter of the modern-day, American, two-party political system began to deteriorate the moment the wheels of the very first reelection campaign were set in motion. But boy, how far we’ve come. That’s the message given by two former Presidents. In just their latest in a series of bipartisan lovefests, former Presidents Clinton and Bush lamented the increasing harshness in recent media coverage of politicians, particularly the office of the President.
In a recent speech at the CTIA wireless industry conference, the elder Bush said that the relationship between the press and politicians is even uglier than he remembered, while his successor Mr. Clinton berated the uneven coverage of blogs and cited their tendency to “bad mouth” politicians as evidence that media coverage has taken a turn for the worse. This is America. Over the years Bill Clinton badmouthed numerous women, the military, his Secret-Service detail, The elder Bush’s son and countless others. He should leave well enough alone… Mr. Clinton was right about one thing: The pioneering role that blogs will play in clearing a path through the muck during the 2008 election and beyond. His wife Hillary will no longer be able to float inaccurate campaign sound bites without being challenged.

Rosie O’Donnell really needs to cut down sharply on her trips to the supermarket. That way, she wouldn’t have two and a half hours during checkout to browse through the tabloids searching for inspiration for the next segment on her bully pulpit, ABC’s the View. Many of the accusations she has leveled in recent weeks are so bizarre, they aren’t even worthy of tabloid coverage.
Co-hosted by Barbara Walters, a 247 year old washed-up journalist who has had so many face lifts she has not just defied, but indeed defeated gravity; Joy Behar, a teacher who gave up an honorable profession to become an obnoxious comedienne (a joke all by itself); and Elisabeth Hasselbeck who became famous for -of all things- getting kicked off of Survivor Island, it is no small wonder that the plug hasn’t been pulled on this garbage yet.

The attack on America’s veterans continues. We’re now being compared to those receiving government entitlements and entered into the same database the federal government uses to track deadbeat dads, and insurance frauds. On March 21st, on a vote of 424–0, the House passed HR 797, the Dr. James Allen Veteran Vision Equity Act, sponsored by Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). It has now been referred to the Senate. Since I am one of the veterans affected by this bill, I decided to conduct some further research.
I’m not amused.
