The Democrats’ Jesus Smackdown

Politics, Society/Culture

As long as Democrats have been engaged in the war against Christmas there have been denials.

Despite years of documented proof such as the government prohibition of public Nativity scenes and other Christian displays, “Seasons Greetings” replacing traditional salutations such as “Merry Christmas”, “Winter break” replacing Christmas break and ad nauseam attacks on Santa, liberals still deny they are at war with Jesus. Well there are now at least nine members of Congress who can no longer deny their true feelings because this time they actually went on record voting against Christ.

On December 11th, 2007, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 847 which simply recognized the importance of Christmas and the Christian faith to America and the world. The resolution passed on a vote of 372 - 9 with 10 voting “Present” and 40 abstentions. That means that nine Congressional Representatives flat-out refused to acknowledge the importance that Christianity has played in shaping this nation. All nine no votes were cast by staunch antiwar Democrats or members of the Congressional Black Caucus:

The Naysayers:

Gary Ackerman (D-NY)
Yvette Clarke (D-NY)
Diana DeGette (D-CO)
Alcee Hastings (D-FL)
Barbara Lee (D-CA)
Jim McDermott (D-WA)
Bobby Scott (D-VA)
Fortney “Pete” Stark (D-CA)
Lynn Woolsey (D-CA)

Nine out of the 10 “Present” votes (which politicians use when they don’t have the spine to take a position) were cast by Democrats. Nineteen of the 40 abstentions were also Democrats. This means that roughly 10% of the entire House of Representatives could care less about the birth of Jesus or what it meant to the world. This all may seem a bit trivial, but it’s only when you step back and look at the big picture that you begin to see the depravity of these people. I recently researched all (nearly 1,200) roll call votes for the 110th Congress and what I found is quite educational.

Let’s take a look at some of the other votes by these nine Democrats as a case study in hypocrisy.

Roll Call 1088: HR 3320 - Providing Support for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. This bill actually spends money to support the museum. Passed 407-13 with 12 abstentions. All nine Democrats who gave Jesus a “Nay” vote gave this one a thumbs up.

Roll Call 1015: HJR 58 - Recognizing Country Music Month. Passed 398-0 with 34 abstentions. Again, all nine Democrats voted “Yea”.

Roll Call 1012: HR 747 - Recognizing the religious and historical significance of the Indian festival of Diwali. Passed 358-0 with eight “Present” and 66 abstentions. Eight of the nine Democrats voted for it. Hastings didn’t vote.

Roll Call 971: HCR 182 - Supporting the goals and ideals of National Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Week . Passed 414-0 with 17 abstentions. All nine Democrats except Woolsey who did not vote gave this one a “Yea”.

Roll Call 928: HR 635 - Recognizing the Commencement of Ramadan. Passed 376-0 with 42 Present and 14 abstentions. Barbara Lee, didn’t vote. Interesting to note here is that 41 of the “Present” votes on this bill were Republicans.

Roll Call 501: HR 233 - Recognizing 200 years of sovereignty of the Principality of Liechtenstein. Passed 389-0 with 43 abstentions. All nine Democrats voted “Yea”.

Roll Call 93: HR 134 - Honoring employees of the Department of Homeland Security. Passed 412-0 with 22 abstentions. All nine Democrats voted “Yea”.

Roll Call 79: HR 120 - Recognizing the African-American Spiritual as a National Treasure. Passed 426-0 with nine abstentions. All nine Democrats voted “yea”.

Roll Call 61: HR 90 - Congratulating coaches Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy for making it to the Superbowl. Passed 425 - 0 with 10 abstentions. Eight of the nine voted “Yea”. McDermott was the only one of the nine not to vote.

So now what I would like to know is why these nine members of Congress gave specific recognition to so many religious and cultural icons and celebrations — from pro athletics to Ramadan to country music — but they couldn’t seem to muster he same amount of respect for Jesus Christ? If you read the resolutions for Christmas, Ramadan and Diwali, they are essentially worded the same. In the absence of anything contrary from the mouths of certain Democrats, hatred of everything Christian is the only logical explanation.

This was a direct slap in the face to Christians in America and around the world. Instead of turning the other cheek, demand accountability from members of Congress who believe it’s open season on our cultural and religious beliefs.

Read Bobby Scott’s tortured explanation of why he voted to smack down Jesus.

Author’s Notes: Scott says he can’t support 847 because it singles out Christianity, yet he voted for 3320, 747 and 635, all of which singled out a specific religion. In the case of 635, it even specifically mentions bigotry against a single group - Muslims. Stark’s explanation simply speaks for itself.

Very interesting work! Thank you very much! Please keep doing it!
If you haven’t checked out “We the people” website, please do!

Don’t forget to go to a “tea-party” demonstration April 15th in a town or meeting place near you! Ban the Federal Reserve and their robbery of the people, and committed fraud via the threat of jail via the IRS working for the “elite” — and then a lot of this crap/stuff will stop!
