The Scourge of Our Times

Illegal Immigration, Judicial Tyranny, Political Correctness, Society/Culture

“Multiculturalism is not a rational idea, but is part of the tyranny of wishful thinking that inevitably accompanies the decay of reason.” - Political Correctness - British Author/Researcher Phillip Atkinson

The primary role of any government is to ensure the safety, security and well-being of its citizens while intruding as little as possible into their personal affairs. The secondary role of any government is to ensure that while fulfilling it’s primary role, the will of the majority is given the utmost consideration. But when the will of the majority is no longer even of tangential concern to the government, particularly when said government engages in unapologetic social engineering, thought control or redistribution of wealth, it is tyrrany that prevails.

If we examine recent legislative efforts undertaken by the Federal Government as well as many American municipalities concerning energy policy, illegal immigration, gay marriage, taxes, education and myriad other subjects, it is plain to see that government big and small has been blatantly giving the majority a stiff middle finger for 40 years while their quest for global socialist governance plods on. Environmental activism has successfully decapitated the U.S. oil drilling industry, particularly in the California and the west. As a result, there have been virtually no increases in refining capacity causing fuel costs to increase over 350% during that time. This has occurred in the midst of soaring illegal immigration which itself has resulted in  population increases of nearly 100 percent  in that same 40 year period. The vast majority of that increase has come in a tidal wave of maids, day laborers, berry pickers and chicken pluckers who have now entrenched themselves so deep in our society that efforts to deport them have resulted in sanctuary cities to harbor them so they can further branch out and steal the jobs of even more skilled workers.

The insidious disease known as political correctness may have had it’s roots in the 1980’s, but it became acceptable and commonplace –indeed ubiquitous– during the first term of then-President Bill Clinton. In Clinton’s mind, expressions of loathing for the military, police, F.B.I. or Secret Service were simply their right to free expression, while expression of that very same loathing for a person who just happened to belong to a different, protected race, sex, religion, creed or class was seen as racism or bigotry. The heated debates of conservative talk radio were deemed hate speech. People were segregated, sorted and categorized by the government according to the very same criteria that they were forbidden from applying to others; race, national origin, religion, sexual preference and economic status. The scales were then radically tipped in favor of tyrrany, with those in thse protected classes the beneficiaries of government largesse and protection.  And Democrats have attempted repeatedly ever since to have the so-called Fairness Doctrine resurrected.

Liberals have long held that political correctness is a conservative contrivance used to combat social change; a figment of our imagination. But when the light of day shimmers upon the lunacy of political correctness, or liberal ”tolerance”,  the need to combat this plague is obvious, particularly in our schools and universities.

Recently, it was brought to light that parents of several students attending Capitol Hill School in Portland, Oregon were upset over a decision by Principal Pamela Wilson to remove the Pledge of Allegiance from an end of the year assembly. In email responses obtained by parents, the Principal justified the decision by telling them that there are many Muslim students at the school and she didn’t want them to be offended or feel excluded, so the Pledge, containing the words (egads!) “Under God” would be replaced by reciting the Preamble to the Constitution.

To liberals, the wisdom of that decision was self-evident, but me, I’m still searching. From their perspective, Muslims should not be coerced into pledging allegiance to the God of the West.

The only problem is that the Principal’s decision was not based on fact.

It was not based on reason.

It was not based on logic.

Hell, it wasn’t even based on the complaints of Muslim students, their parents or community activists. You see, Muslims, regardless of what this dullard thinks, do in fact believe in God.

No,  the decision to remove the Pledge of Allegiance was made out of ignorance and the same prejudices that liberals are incessantly trying to eradicate. According to the District, they had no input into the decision which was made entirely by school staff in the absence of a single complaint.

When the Imam of a local Muslim Community Center, Muhammad Najieb was asked for his reaction to the decision to remove the Pledge specifically because of the words “Under God”, predictably, he found the idea ridiculous and offensive. “God is something that we give praise and thanks to five times a day in all of our prayers… and so for these kinds of statements to come up, that means that they have no understanding of the Muslim religion… If a person is in this country and they don’t particularly like our flag, then they always have the option they can leave.”

While there is no doubt that the Principal’s intentions were benign, this exercise demonstrates the inherent asininity of multiculturalism and political correctness.  The end result of this woman’s foolishness is hurt feelings for everyone involved.

The Principal is no doubt resentful her good deed backfired.

Muslims feel that the Principal’s actions foster Muslim prejudice and intolerance and I fully agree.

Parent’s feel the knee-jerk reaction by the Principal only hurt their children.

And the students were left wondering why there will be no Pledge.

British author Phillip Atkinson rightly and elegantly described political correctness as ”merely the resentment of spoilt children directed against their parent’s values.” And so it is that the liberal politicians of today who clamor for socialism, restricted speech and redistributed wealth are the children of those who fought the Second World War against imperialism, fascism and Nazism, which were all anathema to American democratic ideals. Today’s liberal Baby Boomers have willingly adopted a palpable disdain for the ideals their parents fought for and have successfully instilled that disdain in a whole new generation.

Political correctness and multiculturalist drivel must be eliminated for the good of mankind. It is truly the scourge of our times. You simply cannot legislate, force, coerce or browbeat people of differing cultures or beliefs to live in harmony. It is futile. Since the dawn of civilization, outsiders from one group have been viewed with fear or suspicion by another. It is by cooperating, building trust and bridging differences with good deeds and respect that people learn to live in harmony over time, not by intervention or instant decree from government officials who make ignorant decisions based on their own prejudices.

This article is so wrong it is hard to know where to start. But here’s one place: The secondary goal of government is NOT “to ensure that while fulfilling it’s primary role, the will of the majority is given the utmost consideration” !!!!

Our government was founded on the principal that minorities have rights too! This is exactly why it is unconstitutional (and unamerican!) to pass a law allowing discrimination against African Americans, for example. This is why the majority Christians can’t forbid the minority Jews from freely practicing their faith in this country. This is exactly why you are allowed to express your minority opinion and the majority isn’t allowed to stop you.

As for political correctness — I absolutely agree that there are examples where it goes way too far (like in the pledge case you cite). There are examples where it is made our society better too. It is no longer acceptable in most conversations to use the n-word, for instance, or to walk down the street wearing white Klan robes. One is still allowed to. You won’t be thrown in jail (this is NOT a tyranny). But most people don’t view it as polite, and I think that’s a change for the better.

Regardless, if you think political correctness is the “truly the scourge of our times” then you are blind to the REAL problems we face: terrorist, nuclear proliferation, a health care crisis, joblessness, etc, etc.
