(An Open Letter To Jack “Cold-Blooded” Murtha)
Congressman Murtha,
Were I you sir, I would hang my head in shame and pray to my Creator, begging His forgiveness for the pain that I’ve caused innocent people. And then I would perform some serious personal introspection to see what I could possibly do to begin the process of restitution for my crimes.
But you won’t because you have no shame.
As a member of the House of Representatives, you took a solemn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. Despite what you may believe personally, taking that oath also means upholding the constitutional rights of the ever-expanding list of US Marines and other service-members who are unfortunate enough to have their tactical battlefield decisions dissected and judged by people in the comfort of air-conditioned facilities thousands of miles away.
You appeared on national television, looked the American people in the eye and told us that you had it on good authority that four Marines committed murder and four others covered it up.
It is you who murdered the truth in cold blood. You lied and you’re covering it up.
You and your party routinely advocate for the killing of the unborn, the abolition of the death penalty, unending mercy for the worst scum on Earth, the death of our culture, the destruction of our borders and the coddling of our enemies. Emboldened by your slander, not one single Democrat managed to muster the intestinal fortitude to demand the presumption of innocence for the eight U.S. Marines whom you accuse of losing their marbles, executing civilians and trying to bury the story. In conjuntion with an over-zealous media, you were far too quick to condemn these men, yet you remain silent about the the seven cases to be discharged without a single conviction.
You were confronted when the Article 32 decisions and Watt Investigation revealed there were no LOAC violations and would be no murder charges. You were asked then if you would apologize. Your response was a smug: “The trials aren’t over yet.” But only one case tainted by your lies remains, so where is your apology to the Marines who are innocent?
You’ve brought incalculable anguish upon the parents, spouses, siblings and children of eight innocent men based on nothing more than enemy propaganda planted by a Sunni agent of al Qaeda. And while you were busy trying to kill the rest of our military in Iraq; starving them of food and ammunition by tying up war funding with a morass of beaurocracy; people like me were busy listening to the anguished father of a Marine as he poured his heart out over the injustice perpetrated against his son. People like me were busy listening to the pleas of patriots such as Dave Wuterich, Andrew Grayson and Darryl Sharrratt, as they simply asked America not to prejudge these cases. But I found myself in a very tiny minority and it was due –in large part– to your public pronunciation of murder in cold blood, the stain of which your hands shall never be cleansed of.
Until you lied, Democrats were stalemated in their efforts to end Iraq war. Every attempt to bring our forces home failed. But then you came along; a decorated [1] Marine, with one of your many half-baked ideas to end the war; and in a scene reminiscent of another traitor, Senator John Kerry, you told some whoppers about US combat Marines going berserk in order to exact revenge for the imaginary bombing of their convoy that somehow killed one of their fellow Marines.
And now, with the benefit of hindsight, let’s discuss what truly happened shall we?
- Numerous dead terrorists.
- 15 dead Iraqi civilians, who were unfortunate enough to be used as human shields to attack Marines.
- Lance Corporal Miguel Terrazas, K.I.A.
- Over a dozen other casualites in Kilo Co. that day including Lance Corporals Crossan and Guzman, a result of coordinated attacks.
- Sgt. Sanick DeLaCruz, all charges dismissed
- Cpt. Randy Stone, all charges dismissed
- Cpt. Lucas McConnell, all charges dismissed.
- Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt, all charges dismissed,
- Lance Corporal Stephen Tatum, all charges dismissed
- Lt. Andrew Grayson, acquitted of all charges
- Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, all charges dismissed.
- SSgt. Frank Wuterich, who still faces trial, labeled a monster, murderer, baby killer and leader of a massacre.
- Eight families torn apart by false accusations.
You gave credence and momentum to the anti-war movement and aid and comfort to our enemies. You chummed the waters and began the feeding frenzy that would irreparably taint the cases and reputations of all eight men. The international media hung on your every word.
You’re hiding behind the privilege of your office as if that offers you some sort of immunity against defamation. When you cursed those Marines with your wretched lies you were fawning for the cameras, not acting in your official capacity as a Congressman. Jurists have already expressed skepticism at that defense, saying that it would give politicians license to say whatever they please. You can end the controversy now by offering a full public apology to these Marines and their families. This issue will dog you to your grave unless and until you apologize, so you may as well spare both yourself and these families any more pain.
It’s time to sound off, Marine.

[1] There is compelling evidence that Mr. Murtha’s medals were for superficial wounds that didn’t take him out of action.
It is also evident that Mr. Murtha is not above an apology
