The House That Barack Built

Crime and Punishment, Politics, Society/Culture, economy

One of the most intriguing intellectual curiosities of mine is the liberal view of what passes for indisputable proof. Although liberals dominate academia and claim to be of superior intelligence to conservative Neanderthals, When one considers just a few concrete examples of liberal cause and effect; what constitutes rock solid proof in the mind’s eye of the card-carrying liberal, this laughable notion is turned on its head.

  • For a single bullet to cause that many separate entry and exit wounds in two separate men seated in a moving means that the bullet was either “magic”, or Lee Harvey Oswald, who was trained to shoot by U.S. Marines, must have had help from the grassy knoll.
  • If a child was vaccinated and was then subsequently diagnosed with autism, the vaccine absolutely caused it, notwithstanding the lack of a single shred of evidence.
  • If the Earth is getting warmer, then man is the cause. This, despite a scant 160 years of temperature records, no comparative evidence prior to the industrial revolution and a multitude of other, less understood cosmic events that also influence global weather, such as magnetic pole shifts, cosmic rays, coronal mass ejections and supernovas.
  • If there isn’t a shred of airplane wreckage or human remains recovered from 9/11 crash sites, then the planes didn’t crash, but were hijacked. The people on board were kidnapped and George Bush and the Jews responsible, despite Osama bin Laden’s own claim of responsibility.
  • If Tim McVeigh bombs the Oklahoma City federal building on Bill Clinton’s watch at the same time conservative commentators are blasting him on talk radio for his law enforcement abuses, then conservative radio hosts like Limbaugh and Savage egged McVeigh on.

My point is this:

Liberals are clinically nuts. They have no sense of moderation, have lost all financial perspective, are blaming the former executive branch for the failures of the entire government and driving us towards socialism at an alarming pace. They’ve rammed the most objectionable piece of legislation in this nation’s history down our throats and this is merely the beginning of the fight over their Utopian reconstruction.

The fight over the Obama stinkulus is going to rage on for decades and will be one of perception and propaganda. This bill, credited to Obama but conjured up by Pelosi, is being sold as the necessary evil for what ails us.  But rather than help the economy or financial system, the Federal Government will grow exponentially while state governments and the private sector will contract. We’ll get some new roads, remodeled schools and government buildings. Many people will get $13 a week in tax refunds, but those of us who have managed a modicum of success will get nothing. Each and every American is now on the hook –to China and other countries that hate us– for roughly $40,000.00 each. We may never rid ourselves of the porcine stench of the Obama stinkulus.

Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank Harry Reid and company have huge issues with our dependence on foreign oil, but they share no such reservations over our far more lethal dependence on foreign money. They’ll retire in a few short years while you and I and our children and grandchildren remain chained to the debt these criminals have amassed while trying to sweep their generational failures under the rug.

Is that the right thing to do?

So that Congressional pension investments remain solvent, labor unions who choke the life out of productivity grow larger, fat cats on Wall Street and those who made asinine housing and personal financial decisions are absolved of responsibility? We’ve now rewarded the tiny percentage of people who constitute both the cause of this mess as well as the beneficiaries of its largess; C.E.O.s of failed corporations who’ll be bailed out instead of going to jail, irresponsible borrowers who will have their mortgages adjusted and those who don’t pay income taxes. yet will still get “tax rebates”.

My position from the start of this mess has been that we should leave well enough alone, that recession is normal and necessary; that the economy will eventually recover on its own after unsustainable business models are dispensed with and speculators no longer control the markets. But that can no longer be the case. Because of all of the political meddling, we will never know if the stinkulus plan succeeds, only if it fails. You can’t count “saved jobs”. If even one job gets created,  Democrats will now credit the stinkulus, paving the way for more government control.

Unfortunately the stinkulus will fail. It was doomed from the moment he handed the process over to House Democrats. Our economic pain will increase drastically before it eases. Many more people will lose their jobs and homes. The house of cards will eventually collapse. And while those of us who study and learn from history can envision the long-lasting damage that liberal policies can do, Barack Obama is standing there at the base of that teetering stack of cards with a stiff wind at his back, positive he can yank just one more.

..and it’s such a long time until the 2010 elections.

There is a local conservative talk show host here in Memphis who this morning challenged anyone and everyone who voted for Obama to call him and defend the 2009 budget. It was astonishing. No one could. He had very few callers, and none of them were on point. It was just the insane rambling symptoms of the illness you so aptly describe.

Jayme, first let me say thank you for your service to your country, without men and women to keep us safe we would not still be free. I agree with you letter above about the Warren commission report that Harvey Oswald killed Pres. Kennedy. My ex husband a service man of almost 23 yrs. was in the Marines 6 yrs then followed with the Army and retired a Sgt. He was on the All Army Rifle Team, they were asked to test the rifle Oswald was claimed to have used. After they did so for a period of time, the reort they turned over to the commision stated that, ” The gun was NOT the one used by Oswald”, The gun was not capable of the action that was done..Ofcourse we know the Warren Commisison did not accept the findings..So much for the trust of the countries own military findings Ha?
