“The magnitude of a lie always contains a certain factor of credibility.” - Adolph Hitler - Mein Kampf
The vicious slander against the Marines of 3/1 Kilo Co. brought forth by Pennsylvania Democrat John Murtha continues to receive the blessing of the US Marine Corps leadership who seem quite content sacrificing these 4 men atop the altar of political correctness.
For over two years, the dubious allegations that 4 US Marines massacred 24 civilians “in cold blood” and 4 others helped them cover it up have been stinking up this country somethin’ fierce. Completely unsupported by the facts, undenounced by President Bush, ignored by Congress and aided-and-abetted by a violence-obsessed media that is itself (ironically) vehemently anti-military, the myth has survived.

There was a time not very long ago that most Americans had never even heard of Barack Obama. I unabashedly admit that I was ignorant of his very existence until he delivered the keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004. Obama’s oratory captivated Democrats and he became an overnight sensation. Next thing you know, he’s occupying a Senate seat from Illinois –and after merely a year– vying to be Commander-In-Chief of the world’s mightiest military.
It’s quite obvious that Obama saw the US Senate as the quickest route to Pennsylvania Avenue even though he hasn’t really done anything substantive there. Hillary Clinton has criticized his record as a state legislator due to his penchant for voting “Present”, but I am more concerned over his record (or lack thereof) in the US Senate. He has missed nearly 40 percent of all Senate votes during the 110th Congress (190 out of 477) going back to early 2007. He has avoided rather than confronted controversial issues. Despite claiming unmatched opposition to the Iraq war, he has passed up various opportunities to cast his vote against it.

“This fight is about war” - Bay Area Code Pink
The Berkeley, California City Council has declared war on the US Marine Corps.
On January 29, 2007, the Peace and Justice Commission of the Berkeley City Council recommended that the City Manager study the city’s options for running the US Marine Corps out of Berkeley. The recommendation referred to the Marines as a “violent influence”, directed the City Manager to send letters to the Shattuck Avenue Marine Corps recruiting station and the Commandant of the Corps telling them that the recruiting office was not welcome in their city and threatening the Marines that if they chose to stay in Berkeley, that they did so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.

“I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…”
Americans know that without the sacrifices of our military, we’d soon bow to Mecca. We send phone cards and care packages to soldiers overseas. We focus vast resources on rehabilitating our combat wounded and employing our returning vets.
But while America opens its wallet to these men and pours out its heart for the wounded and the fallen, lost in the chatter are the political casualties of the Iraq war; brave men such as USMC 1st Lieutenant Andrew Grayson.
Grayson - 26, is charged with obstruction of justice and making false official statements surrounding his alleged destruction of some 70 photographs the military contends were proof of the Little Massacre That Could in Haditha, Iraq in November of 2005. He is also charged with attempted fraudulent separation from the Marine Corps. Grayson’s trial is scheduled for May 2008.

“Until they come to grips with how long and frequent deployments are straining soldiers and shattering lives we will continue to see this frightening trend” - Lie of the week from Senator Patty Murray (D-WA)
The mainstream media’s propaganda war against the US military continues…
For years, the alphabet news networks, the New York Times, the AP and Reuters have been steadily beating the drum of defeat - spewing enemy propaganda and generally doing everything in their power to sap support at home for our military efforts abroad.
A few weeks ago, I published a piece on the New York Times’ fascination with military murders. Last week an AP writer had a fetish with military suicides. At some point, one has to ask why they’re so agog over the deaths of US military members?

With success taking shape in Iraq, liberal journalists don’t have much to talk about. Unable to impugn the reputation of the military on the battlefield, the New York Times has again resorted to the character assassination of our armed forces here at home.
Both Iraq and Afghanistan have seen Americans awarded the Medal of Honor. There have been stories of selfless sacrifice; of Navy SEaLs exposing themselves to direct enemy fire to radio help for their team or Marines who instinctively hurl themselves on enemy grenades without hesitation. There have been missions where US Army soldiers were compromised by civilians, their missions ending with dead teammates because rather than neutralizing these threats, which would both assure mission secrecy and be well within their rules of engagement, these gallant US soldiers chose to let them live.
But if you believe The New York Times’ Deborah Sontag and Lizette Alvarez, the US military is nothing more than a ragtag collection of drunkards, wife beaters, drug abusers, criminals and murderers.

Although the threat of annihilation from Islamic terrorism is center stage, other threats are just as immediate, such as the economic, technological and chemical warfare being visited upon us by China. These threats, while not as sensational and perhaps not as overtly deadly, nevertheless require us to be just as vigilant.
While your government continues its failed strategy of economic and political engagement to try and convince China of our benign intentions, the Chinese simply continue down the same path of foolishness they have been on for decades, taking offense at every perceived slight. First it was our support of Taiwan. Then it was our Navy aircrew whom the Chinese held captive over their claim that their airspace was violated. Now it’s the president awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the Dalai Lama that is proffered by the media as the excuse du jour for the latest Chinese temper tantrum.
