1. The economy has made improvements under this administration.

REALLY? What kind of improvements?

2. This so called un-Constitutional health care systems was supported by the Rebuplicans in the 1990s as a way to counter Hilarycare. The conservative Heritage Foundation even backed a similar plan. It wasn’t until Obama and the Dems got behind it that the dumb@$$ conservatives abandoned it. Second, this health care plan is back by your GOP hopefully Mitt Romney in Massachuetts. Google Romney and Mass Health Care and you can find plenty of videos where he himself is backing a mandate for people who can afford health care to buy it.

As I’ve told every liberal moron who comments on one article without performing due dilligence, as an Independent, I have principles that can’t be compromised, regardless of the peer pressure that’s brought to bear and couldn’t care less what others think. It’s unconstitutional, period. 6. A recent poll released today still finds that 75% of Americans believe in Global Warming. The only nuts who don’t are the conservatives who don’t believe in science.

Over 50 percent of the voters in the last election put Obama in office without dong their homework. Nearly 70 percent of the country also believes he’s ineligible for office and wants to see proof.  And, science has  unfortunately been politicized to the point where it can no longer be trusted to be objective. 7. You want to complain about the Gov. growing bigger and more intrusive yet didn’t hear the d*mb@$$ conservative complaining when Bush passed the Patriot Act giving the government the right to spy on Americans without a court apporval.

8. It only took Obam 3 days to respond to the Detroit Bomber not a week. Get your facts straight. It took Bush 6, yes count them, 6 whole days to respond to the shoe bomber and when he did he barely mentioned it. How’d that Iraq invasion work out for you? You want to talk about the attrocities in Iran and Iraq. How come we never invaded countries like North Korea who actually has a nuclear weapon and treats their people like sh*t. This rant by Democrat Danny was about a piece I wrote about Iraq. In my response, I called him out for taking me completely out of context and lying about voting for Bush. The liberal bullet points he mentioned gave him away. And Democrats are calling me angry… Haven’t they ever heard of spell check or proper punctuation ?

I’m already so sick of “cut and run.”  which is just a buzz word for people who support this administrations sociopathic “war on terror.”  What is ironic is that you state that 3,000 people died at 9/11 to “leave a legacy of freedom in Iraq.  It is obvious to any person who pays attention slightly that Iraq was not a “terror state” and that Pakistan and Iran are and that Osama Bin Laden is still at large.  Not to mention that all the “hijackers” were Saudi, but we can’t go there and stir things up because of Bush’s Oil interests.  We were sold a bridge in the post 9/11 atmosphere and our president took advantage of that anger and along with the help of the corporate propaganda machines known as ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox had the entire country believing (80 percent) that Saddam Huessein was invoved in 9/11.  I voted for Bush and he lied to me, you and the rest of this country period.The legacy that is being left in Iraq is one of death, destruction and murder plain and simple.  Your quoted number of three thousand is no where close.  Do not patronize your readers by saying Bush “made mistakes” and now is “trying to do the right thing.”  Talk about putting it lightly. Here’s one, allegedly from a big brave astronaut who was too afraid to leave his name. This poor soul should return to grade school to study 8th grade reading comprehension. The article he referred to criticized a culture of failure that inflicts the entire country, not just NASA. Nowhere in the piece did I criticize the “space program” or its benefits or astronauts, only the way it was managed. No wonder the space program is in trouble. In response to my three-part series on global warming:

I believe that it is my duty as an American to create a single database in which we can list all of the people who are mentally behind. I mean seriously, do you really believe that man is not responsible for the impending global climate change? Life as we know it will be gone in 100 years. At 6.4 degrees of temperature increase and the planet becomes inhospitable. 1 degree at the equator is 15 degrees at the poles. 6.4×15. Game over.

Despite multiple disclaimers not to react in knee-jerk fasion, this poor chap did so and ended up admitting as much. And he’s a research scientist. You’ll have to forgive me. I’m not arrogant enough to believe that 150 years of observations on a planet that is 4.5 billion years old, in a universe that is over 13.5 billion years old is enough to draw any conclusions from. I’ll wait and see…

I confess that my reply was to some extent an knee-jerk reaction. I responded even before getting to the last line of your piece where you mention the IPCC 2001 report.

However, my concern is not whether you provide links or footnotes (as Al Franken has shown quite well, whether you agree with his politics or not, its possible to mislead quite cleverly using footnotes) or whether you acknowledge that the Earth is warming (that much is obvious).

My concern is the impression you give, that the report is not based on science so much as socialism, that the scientists involved were not involved in the research, and that the evidence is not provided.

None of these things is true. The truth is that the science behind global warming started in 1856 and has continued through today.

I’ll try to read your future articles to see what holes you think exist, but truthfully, its very simple. It is fact that CO2 traps heat and its fact that atmospheric CO2 is increasing. If warming were NOT evident, we’d have to rethink our entire understanding of the climate system. The first prediction of global warming was in 1896 and the first report of global warming was in 1930. Scientists have been in agreement that global warming is an important concern since 1970 and we’ve seen unequivocal vidence of warming in recent decades.

You can try to poke holes in the IPCC science if you like, just as creationists try with evolution, but its then up to you to come up with a new climate theory that allows for warming that isn’t dependent on carbon dioxide or to explain how we could double CO2 and not get a warmer planet. Good luck with that.

As for people’s knee-jerk reactions, not everyone can be an expert on the science. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to laymen blather on about geological cycles as if they can somehow grasp this subject with only highschool biology. So people have to trust someone and the IPCC represents a synthesis of all available science on the subject. If you accept the IPCC report as correct, then it becomes pretty damn important that people like you stop polluting the internet with misleading information so that we might take some action to prevent catastrophe. That explains (but doesn’t justify) the death threats.

By the way, I’m currently writing you from Antarctica where I’m studying the effects of carbon dioxide on marine animals that produce shells of calcium carbonate. As CO2 diffuses from the atmosphere into the ocean it causes a reduction in pH that dissolves shells. We’ve measured an inability to grow in some species at CO2 levels that we’ll reach in the next 50-100 years if we don’t take dramatic action soon. This is the “other CO2 problem” and has nothing to do with global warming.

I can’t edit TCV articles, but if it will make you feel better about my intellectual honesty, in Part II, I will provide static links to all of the PDF source documents for the 2001 report, including the socialist diatribe “Methodological and Technical Issues in Technology Transfer”, which I cited in the Part I footnotes. As the second in this series will show, I have nothing to hide, and actually encourage non-UN, independent, private review of –not the data– but the methods used by the IPCC to reach it’s conclusions.

Most importantly, this whole series is an experiment of mine to document the knee-jerk reactions that people who are thoroughly unfamiliar with the science have. How many ways do I have to articulate in one column that I don’t question that the Earth is warming? most of the rabid believers condemned me, despite that.

Based on a thorough examination of all available documentary evidence that I’ve examined over hundreds of hours, I conclude that the jury is still out. I’m not saying it isn’t so (Man causing global warming). The IPCC methodology is simply suspect, and does NOT prove scientifically, without a doubt, that the burning of fossil fuels and other human activities is indeed a cause of global warming and even if so, to what extent.

People like Galileo, Keppler, Newton, Copernicus were threatened or executed for defying the conventional wisdom with such trite matters as the Earth being round, or the center of the universe.
