The Slow But Steady March

Environment, Illegal Immigration, Political Correctness, Politics, Society/Culture, Terrorism, economy

Every four years, we put a new tenant in the White House, hoping beyond hope that perhaps things will be different. But things are never different. If we are to have true change in Washington, we must also sweep Congress clean, purging the Capitol of the foul stench of pork and uselessness that’s wafted through there for the last 40 years. Fortunately, this year, all 435 House seats and half of the Senate’s 100 seats are up for grabs. If we start now, we can finish the job by 2010.

Democrats Running on Empty

Environment, Politics, Society/Culture, economy

Democrats are running a bit lean these days. Some would say they’re on nothing more than vapors.

Although it seems that proponents of more oil drilling have the upper hand in the energy debate at the moment, getting a single drop of oil from the ground is another matter altogether. Opponents have pulled out all the stops, resorting to parliamentary maneuvering and intellectual dishonesty to avoid bringing the subject up for a vote.  It’s clear they have no intention of engaging in compromise or cooperation to reach a speedy, comprehensive solution to our short and long-term energy needs.

Pick Your Battles

Environment, Illegal Immigration, Media Bias, Military/War, Politics, Terrorism

When I was six, I watched as a man insulted my father after dad refused to allow the guy to cut in front him in the bakery line. After a few words were exchanged, I watched as my father took him out  back to where we old-schoolers call “behind the woodshed” where he proceeded to pummel the poor chap silly before he apologized and slunk off.

As a young boy, all I could think of was how proud I was of my father when he kicked that guy’s butt. My brother and I were laughing about how cool it was my dad clocked this guy when we were sternly interupted for the compulsory lessons about conflict that this particular pummeling demonstrated.

Misdirected Energy

Environment, Political Correctness, Politics, Society/Culture, economy

While the screws are put to average American in the form of taxpayer bailouts of self-serving, greedy financial interests the government deems too important to let collapse or soaring fuel and food costs, both the Bush Administration and the 110th Congress continue to fiddle while Rome burns.

They pass everything from token measures such as Bush’s economic stimulus package to Congress’ pet mortgage reform, to Nancy Pelosi’s behemoth “comprehensive” energy bill - using economic, environmental and cultural socialism to deal with America’s ills. But the reality is that these measures taken by our leadership on both sides of the aisle are anything but helpful. In fact they are quite damaging.

Global Harming

Environment, Political Correctness, Politics

You’ve got to hand it to Al Gore…

This shyster has managed to make a fortune convincing 3/4 of the population of the entire world that we’re all going to die in less than 100 years because of human-induced global warming while simultaneously managing to consume 10 times the energy of the average human.

Even though science is still debating such lofty theories as Einstein’s General Relativity and the exact details and catalysts of Darwin’s Evolution, Gore and his disciples have closed the book on global warming. According to them, global warming is the one theory that is no longer subject to debate and if you question it, you’re just simply wrong or an imbecile.

Climate Change: Globalist Hot Air Part IV: The Gore(y) Details:

Environment, Political Correctness

If there’s one thing that true believers of anthropogenic global warming have in common is true devotion. You might say it has become a religion, its anointed leader, the Reverend Al Gore.

Earlier this year, when the IPCC announced -with considerable alarm- that their latest assessment report made the strongest connection between the increasing levels of anthropogenic greenhouse gases and global increases in temperature we were told that even if we immediately reversed the damage we were doing, it was too little, too late. Al Gore chastised Americans for not doing enough to combat this catastrophic problem. When Canada decided to voluntarily enact cutbacks in emissions, Gore smugly chastised them too, saying they weren’t doing nearly enough.

The Last Time I Checked, That Was Old Glory

Environment, Political Correctness, Society/Culture

Thank the Good Lord they can’t bottle stupidity, because there seems to be an abundance of it at all levels of government. With all of the real serious problems this country faces, you’d think that the mayor of a major city would have his hands full, what with terrorists preparing to kill us and all that…

There is a growing movement by many cities to ban bottled water in city departments. The supporters of this movement cite environmental concerns as the primary reason they’re doing it. Diminutive fascist mayor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco hopes that by heeding his example, other cities and perhaps the private sector will pledge in unison not to purchase bottled water, thereby rescuing humanity and saving the planet from this most foul of substances.

Only In The Mind of a Liberal

Environment, Illegal Immigration, Military/War, Political Correctness, Politics, Society/Culture, Terrorism

Only in the mind of a liberal did George Bush, the CIA or any American have anything to do with the September 11th attacks.

Only in the mind of a liberal should society sanction and pay for the execution of an unborn baby, but not the execution of those beyond redemption.

Only in the mind of a liberal is Osama bin Laden a holy warrior, while George Bush the anti-Christ

A Dangerous Dialectic

Environment, Illegal Immigration, Political Correctness, Society/Culture, Terrorism

The United States is well on its way to Marxism and may be further along than many people thought. It is well known that there are many professors in American universities that espouse Marxist, collectivist viewpoints. They do so openly.

But how far does this go? How harmful is a bunch of hippie Marxist rhetoric? Aren’t these just the rantings of some isolated loons? The argument I will put forth says that it is all around us. It permeates everything. It influences our thoughts and deeds. It is used by the UN. It is used by Democrats. Hell, it is even used by Republicans in the Senate. It is used by anyone pushing any sort of globalist agenda. Karl Marx would be proud.

Climate Change: Globalist Hot Air? Part III.

Environment, Political Correctness, Politics, Society/Culture

This is the third of a multi-part series

Part III.

Previously, we looked at the IPCC and the role that politics plays in its election and report publication processes. We also looked at its connection with the Kyoto Protocol, which upon objective examination is nothing more than the forfeiture of western technology and knowledge to poorer countries in the interests of cleaning up the environment. Next, we took a look at the scientific techniques involved in reaching all of the doomsday conclusions and examined why many of these techniques were biased in favor of the conclusions they reached.

Climate Change: Globalist Hot Air? Part II.

Environment, Political Correctness, Politics, Society/Culture

This is the second of a multi-part series

Part II.
Overview of the IPCC Climate change methodology.

Let’s start with what a couple of examples of modern, acceptable science look like today. The efficacy of birth control is generally considered effective if it works 98 - 99.9% of the time. The results of DNA testing are used in death penalty cases when the results demonstrate a 99.5% - 99.9% or higher probability of matching a criminal defendant. In many criminal cases that hinge on DNA, the statistical odds that the DNA matches someone else are nearly equal the number of people on the planet, or one in several billion.

Why should we accept anything less when discussing something of such global significance, which liberals argue will imminently kill us all in less than a generation if we don’t stop it ? Acceptable statistical probabilities generally hover in the 95% certainty range and this is an obstacle to the acceptance of any statistical evidence as conclusive proof of anything.

Climate Change: Globalist Hot Air?

Environment, Media Bias, Political Correctness, Politics

The evidence is in. The headlines proclaim:

“Global Warming Man Made, Will Continue”.

“Scientists Agree: Humans Causing Global Warming.”

Democrats are screeching “SEE… I told you so!” People are throwing around words like absolute and unequivocal to describe the evidence. The noses of Jacques Chirac and the US Senate have turned upwards in their indignation towards the fuel consumption habits of the American people, and someone - somewhere is probably saying “There ought to be a law.”

The recently publicized conclusions about global warming and the hysterics that followed were based on an executive summary released February 2nd by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This latest report is one in a series from the IPCC that has been released every few years.
