Political Detachment Syndrome

As adolescents we learned about STDs.

As adults we know of children who suffer from ADD or ADHD.

We know that infants die from SIDS, that there’s no cure for AIDS, that RLS may be real and that there are new respiratory ailments called COPD and SARS because they don’t really know the cause.

Unfortunately, there’s another acronym that we are going to have to live with. The acronym is PDS or Political Detachment Syndrome. PDS is characterized by such a complete detachment from the harsh realities of life on Earth, that the afflicted are obsessively compelled to seek out bizarre new ways to sate their own enormous egos. PDS leads some to act in a manner that gives new meaning to the term “toilet humor”, others to try and be something they’re not. It infects Democrat and Republican; presidential candidates, senators and congressmen.
