The 2008 election is just hours away. Unfortunately, Americans are only now beginning to understand what Barack Obama meant when he said he would bring much needed change to Washington. Not lower taxes, not fiscal restraint, not government reform; but radical, socioeconomic change that completely reshuffles the deck and reorders society into what Obama believes would be fair. In the process, he would destroy our freedoms, hinder our successes, ruin our middle class and forever alter our way of life. The 2008 election cycle has undoubtedly been the most lopsided campaign of bias, double-standards and personal attacks by the media I have ever seen. Such are the societal mores of the party of the jackass; if you can’t win fair and square, cheat. Media tactics during this campaign are without equal in terms of their viciousness.

The fact that John McCain is still competing at all with Barack Obama is testament the very potent truth that America doesn’t want liberalism, socialism or any other ism they interpret as confiscatory. The fact that Obama isn’t having to attack McCain despite all we’ve learned recently is testament to the equally potent inverse truth that Barack Obama doesn’t need attack John McCain because his liberal media lapdogs are doing the attacking for him. No longer witnesses, they are now active participants, and forfeit any claims of objectivity.

With their tremendous reach, NBC and the New York Times are the worst offenders, but everyone in the liberal media from late night hosts to network news anchors are attempting to manipulate public opinion by engaging in personal attacks that have nothing to do with the campaign. They’re obsessed with Joe the plumber, Cindy McCain, Sarah Palin’s intelligence, wardrobe, daughter and husband. They’ve been unabashedly in the tank for Obama all along and everyone knows it. One of the best examples of their bias was during coverage of Joe (the plumber) Wurzelbacher.

ABC’s first run footage of Joe’s encounter with Obama was cleverly but clearly edited. Obama’s “Spread the wealth” remark was scrubbed, lest they betray the truth about his tax plan. As soon as Joe exposed Obama’s insane tax grab for what it really was, an angry media attacked him as relentlessly as anyone they’ve attacked this campaign. They probed every aspect of his personal life and within hours, they launched their smear campaign to try and discredit him.

• Joe’s name wasn’t really Joe, it was Samuel.
• He wasn’t really a plumber.
• Diane Sawyer noted brilliantly that he didn’t make $250,000.00 a year, yet.
• He had a tax lien on his property (like millions of other Americans) and all kinds of other garbage that is completely private personal information that should be out of bounds.

While they attack McCain and Sarah Palin or anyone remotely connected to them, they systematically bury news that hurts the Democrat candidate:

• The story about the Obama campaign staffer who cast a fraudulent Ohio vote.
• The story of the 12 other Obama staffers who withdrew their votes rather than face prosecution.
• The stories about the oral diarrhea emanating from the gullets of Joe “Hairplugs” Biden and John “Cold-Blooded” Murtha, no strangers to verbal incontinence.

Murtha’s recent racist tirades are just one among many by Democrats this election and this obsession with race betrays the Democratic Party’s own subconscious bigotry. Biden’s interview with WFTV Florida’s Barbara West didn’t help Obama’s denial of his socialist views.

West quoted Marx and then had the following exchange with Biden:

She asked Biden a pointed, yet legitimate question about Obama’s views. Not only did Biden not answer the question, he dismissed it as illegitimate and canceled an upcoming interview. The Obama campaign then sent the station a terse letter crying foul and essentially blackballing them from doing any further interviews. That’s a scary proposition, but fits Obama’s pattern of Herculean efforts to conceal his true identity. It also betrays that his administration will be as secretive as Bush’s, if not more.

The media continues to blast McCain for his alleged negativity and overall campaign tone, while giving Obama a free pass. He has never answered a tough, direct question. Not from West, not from Wurzelbacher, not from anyone. When reporters do ask Obama/Biden tough questions they are laughed at and blackballed. As Americans, we deserve to know who our elected leaders are, especially our President. The media, once relied upon to serve this function, refuses to tell us. We know nothing of Barack Obama. He has explained away everything; Every questionable relationship or decision he has ever made:

• His relationships with socialists, hateful pastors domestic terrorists, and those who hatch voter fraud schemes.

• His time in Indonesian schools which at the time were undeniably state-run Muslim institutions

• The fact that his entire Senate career was spent running for President

• The fact that his tax plan lacked any detail until Joe Wurzelbacher got him to cough it up

• The fact he would negotiate with terrorists without preconditions.

• The fact he would fine employers for not providing health care

• The fact he would otherwise break the backs of small business.

• The fact he is withholding completely innocuous documents from scrutiny, such as calendars and appointments from his time in the Illinois Senate, medical records, college transcripts and even a college thesis.

This is a critical time in our nation’s history. Notwithstanding the core issues of the economy, energy, illegal immigration and national defense, we are looking at the very real prospect of electing a candidate whose background is unknown, yet whose fiscal, social and foreign policies resemble communism. In the process, we serve witness to the wholesale trashing of our Constitution as voter registration and election fraud threatens the very core of our democracy. If we were to elect a President who indeed has ties to socialists, who may espouse Marxist viewpoints, who was helped by massive voter fraud and media contamination, it would destroy the very fabric of our entire nation. Millions of U.S. veterans fought to secure this country against fascists, communists, Marxists, socialists and their requisite ills, yet ironically, many of these men may live to see a President who shares some of those views, but refuses to answer that question directly.

Sadly, although the media refuses to report it, Barack Obama’s own running mate made the most compelling argument against an Obama presidency as anyone to date. Joe Biden’s admonition that Obama’s election will invite a generated international crisis was another one of his unscripted moments, which usually betray the truth. Biden himself painted an Obama presidency as more of an invitation to our destruction than anything else. As Biden said, gird your loins and hold your nose, America. They say that those who are ignorant of their own history are doomed to repeat it; in this case, we’re poised to one-up it.

Michelle Obama recently said that for the first time in her adult life, she was proud of her country. While I unequivocally disagree;  while I have found many occasions in my adult life to be proud of my country, I can emphatically say that this is not one of them. As a matter of fact; for the first time in my adult life, I am unabashedly ashamed of my country. Ashamed that our Commander-In-Chief would order Marines from Lt. Col Jeffrey Chessani’s 3rd Battalion to battle terrorists in Iraq only to turn his back and hold his nose while these brave men, who should be held aloft on our shoulders and celebrated, are viciously and selectively prosecuted. It is nauseating, this wretched betrayal.

Milestone - mile - stone `mI(-&)l-”stOn

(n.) - A stone serving as a milepost. A significant point in development

2006 has now been relegated to the archives of history. It was a year to remember and a year to forget. It was a year of scandal and of missed opportunities; a year of increasing divisiveness, as demonstrated in the midterm elections and the year that the American conservative movement repudiated it’s Commander-In-Chief.

It was a year that found the New York Times leaking sensitive information on two occasions, while arguing that the public’s –therefore by default al Qaeda’s– right to know outweighed the Bush Administration’s right to use electronic intercepts to track our enemy’s domestic phone calls or money transfers, both of which incidentally would precede a major terrorist attack.

Above all, It was a year of milestones, most of which were never fully realized and even a few that were manufactured specifically to divide the country in a time of war.

Ted Kennedy, The Associated Press, Reuters News Service and other mental midgets in the media rang in the New Year celebrating the historic milestone of the 3,000th US servicemember killed in Iraq. Kennedy called it a “tragic milestone”, while the media variously referred to it as a “grim milestone” or “the death toll milestone”. Both Reuters and the AP were practically drooling, awaiting the announcement of the next dead soldier. As a matter of fact, for about two hours on New Year’s Eve, Yahoo News posted an article attributed to Reuters entitled “US death toll in Iraq reaches 2,999″ with no byline. A few hours later, it was replaced with the three thousand figure. The article was then attributed to Claudia Parsons (Reuters), and has been updated on several occasions.

Reuters is straining sooo hard to emphasize that this is a milestone, that the story was accompanied by those unauthorized photos of flag-draped coffins being offloaded at Dover Delaware that are several years old. In addition, according the the source they’re citing for the casualty figures, there has yet to be an official confirmation of the three thousand figure, yet the Reuters headlines scream “3,000 dead”. The figure was followed in the next paragraph by a sentence indicating the number of casualties had not been “officially confirmed” and then the author’s own insinuation that the figure was not being confirmed so Bush’s critics wouldn’t have any ammunition to attack him.

Let me clarify the misconceptions you are being inculcated with by liberals in politics and the media.

A milestone is something you use to measure either a). distance or b). progress. So unless you’re cheering for the terrorists in Iraq, no number of dead US soldiers is a “milestone”. And no body count should ever be the measure of the success or failure of an entire military campaign. Using the published methodology for icasualties.org, which is the source for the Reuters article, as of publication of this piece, there are 2,991 confirmed deaths with 11 pending confirmation for a total of 3,002 . I surmise that I subscribe to the same Dod feed that icasualties does and as of the publication of this column, US Army Sgt. Edward W. Shaffer, 23 Mont Alto, PA was the last confirmed US military death in Iraq. The trouble is that his death occurred on December 27th. The most recent death confirmed by DoD occurred on 12/28.

The entire methodology is suspect. In this first screenshot, observe the timestamp. The “current time in Baghdad” was 9:43:07 PM 1/1/07. There were reportedly 2,993 deaths with 9 pending confirmation. In the second screenshot , also observe the time. It reads: 10:33:24 PM, forty minutes later, but the confirmed body count went down by two in the 40 minutes between the two screenshots. How is this possible? Rushing to be the first and not confirming your sources, that’s how.

If the latest death was confirmed on 12/28/2006, and the icasualties figures keep bouncing up and down on 1/1/2007, Reuters, through Ms. Claudia Parsons has some ’splainin to do about the accuracy of her article. I have monitored DoD casualty reports for two years. DoD only confirms military deaths upon notification of the families and sometimes they are posted on DoD’s website out of chronological sequence. Therefore, I submit to you that the entire premise of this piece of garbage propagated by Reuters and then modified at least three times over the course of six hours is in question. The number 3,000 cannot be confirmed by any independent source and yet Reuters reported it as fact.

Even worse, not only does Ms. Parsons report suggest that an unconfirmed US body count is some sort of measure of progress, she disrespects all US soldiers by devoting half of her article on their deaths to the details of how Saddam Hussein was mourned in his hometown. Apparently she sees Saddam Hussein as morally equal and therefore deserving of just as much attention. What a sicko.

And people wonder why the influence and subscription rates of mainstream media publications continue to plummet. The only milestone worthy of mention here is the new lows that some people and organizations will descend to in order to advance their agenda.
