Two hundred thirty-three years ago, a ragtag group of brave patriots fought for and won our independence from the British crown. And once they had secured their freedom, they carefully established a system of government with checks and balances to ensure that centralized tyranny could never again establish a foothold in their country. This time, the violators were probably the harmless crew of a foreign cargo vessel. Next time they could be al Qaeda-linked terrorists.
